At the beginning of the 2008 fall session, the Utah state Legislature initiated funding of more than $15 million toward revamping arts programs in elementary schools throughout Utah for the next four years. I can't think of anything better for the development of young minds. Scholars say the study of the arts increases a child's capacity to not only learn in general but also to learn more and learn faster. I positively agree that the new program will strengthen our youths.
I have also noticed that Utah fares very well in theater and music. I am sure a great deal of this has to do with Mormon culture. The Latter-day Saint culture cares about its children. If only young people had the resources they do when they are younger. Good programs for youths are few and far between.
